new and improved

While slacking off on the blog front … oh, basically since I started it, I realized that I was trying WAY too hard creating a blog that wasn’t authentically me.  I was trying to be what I thought a blogger should be and that’s just not cool….. and makes it not that much fun.
I am changing a few things around in the coming month or two – new blogging schedule, a new design, writing in an authentic way (not “I’m trying to sounds smart and like a blogger”).  I also have some new posts scheduled and ready to go to usher in the new and improved Somewhere Over Yonder.
I am super excited about this new blogging schedule that I came up with.  I put a lot of thought into how often I wanted to write and although four days seems a little scary at the moment, I think it’s completely do-able (especially with my new daily schedule).
Monday :    Sharing is Caring” – I’ll be sharing a blog, Instagram, etc that I follow and love
Tuesday :    Blog post
Wednesday :    Nothing at the moment, but that may change as time goes on
Thursday :    Blog post
Friday :        “This Week in 5” – little bits & bobs about life that don’t need a post, pics not on Instagram, articles I’ve read and loved, etc.

winter adventure

Since C had to work all Valentines day, I decided to take a little me time and do some exploring.  Specifically, I had planned to drive down to Baxter State Park, take some photos, and be on my merry way.

When I pulled into the "parking area" (basically the snow plow turn around area where they stop plowing) I noticed that there was an event happening.

Much to my delight, not only were they renting cross country skis in honor of the Great Maine Get Outdoors Weekend, but the rentals were free. Woot Woot!!
Now, I was seriously under dressed for a long trek in the freezing cold temps we've had lately, but I chanced it anyway.
Oh, did I mention that it's been YEARS since I skied?  No?  Well, it's been awhile.
After my adventure, I chatted with the nice lady running the weekend, Sue, who told me that they have plans to come back in March sometime to do another free weekend.  Count me in!  Hopefully we have Miss M that weekend and can get her on some skis too.

The people setting this whole shin-dig up is Katahdin Woods & Waters.  They do events around the year and are currently trying to raise support to turn the recreation area into a National Park .... which would be pretty awesome. Check out their website and Facebook page.

a daily schedule

One of my unofficial goals for the first quarter of 2015 was to create a daily schedule.  Now, honestly, this is just the planning and beginning to implement stage.  I have in NO WAY actually created, stuck with, and loved a schedule yet.  Clearly I am not on the ball.
I realized that I needed to really get on it when it *finally* really hit me that I wasn’t being super consistent with my blogging because I wasn’t scheduling myself time to do said blogging stuff.  Duh, Liz – right?  I will only get shit done if I make the time to do it.  I swear, sometimes I feel like the last horse out of the gate.
Anywhoo -
This is obviously just a weekday schedule.  I’m thinking that my weekends from 8pm on will be similar to my weekdays with some minor blogging work done.  I want to try and leave my weekends free to enjoy exploring and my little family.
5:30 am    Wake up (this is basically ½ earlier than I wake up now)
5:30 – 6:00    Get out of bed, do 15 min or so stretching, drink a glass of water
6:00 – 7:00    Get ready for work – shower, makeup, etc, etc
7:00 – 6:00pm    Commute and the day job
6:00 – 7:00    ½ hour exercise, clean bunny stuff
7:00 – 8:00    Work on Blog stuff (writing, photos, comments, reading blogs, Instagram, etc)
8:00 – 10:00    Dinner and Relax – read, tv, journal, chat with C, cuddle the bunnies
10:00 – 10:30    Get ready for bed
10:30        Bed time ☺
I’m thinking that until this schedule becomes second nature to me, I will use my phone alarm to remind myself about the time period I’m entering, especially the blog working time.  Luckily, most of my favorite shows start at 8 or 9, so I won’t feel like I need to miss them to stay on task.  The important things, right?
** Do you follow a set schedule or just wing it?  Any tips on how to get everything done?**

around here

It has been quite the whirl wind of activity here the past two weeks.  A lot has happened - some good, some not so good.

The Good //  I am into my third week of a new job (whoop, whoop!).  I am no longer working part time at WalMart.  I am now working as a Legal Assistant at a local title company (a law office that only does real estate stuff).  This is a job I've done before and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it.  Becuase I know the basics, most of my learning curve is only how this particular office likes things.

The Bad // I lost my grandfather mid-January.  He hadn't been in the best health for a few years now, but it was still pretty sudden.  He was an incredible man, who had done A LOT of really awesome things in his life -- but he was probably the most laid back, humble man I've ever known.  There is a huge hole in my heart and life.

The Exciting //  C and I are looking at houses.  I am so excited to (hopefully) be getting out into our own place again.  We're looking for a house with at least two (preferably three) bedrooms and at least 2 acres so that I can have a good sized garden.  We've found three that we really like -- although they are all COMPLETELY different.
